The smallest powered AlNiCo 12” in the range, the P12R is the classic choice for the lower powered combo amps of the tweed era.  It was very common in Fender®, Epiphone® and Ampeg® amps until the early ‘60s. The P12R is bright and colorful, has excellent cut and sparkle, and breaks up easily.

User Reviews

After being disappointed by lots of dull and flat sounding speakers universally praised as true '50s and '60s Jensens replicas, I've put a Jensen C12Q RI on my self-made Deluxe Reverb and I've finally started hearing what I was expecting - sparkling, chime, incredible touch response, strong attack and gritty 3D overdrive. It was immediately followed by a P12R on my Tweed Deluxe and a P8R on Tweed Champ, with great satisfaction. Everything you read around on forums, about how new Jensens sound nothing like the old ones, is pure bull from deaf people: if you crave authentic vintage Fender sound, this is it.

I bought one of these for my Fender Deluxe 57 reissue. It has really improved the sound. I tried 3 Celestions as well as the stock fitted Eminence but the P12R is nothing short of spectacular. I knew the amp had something exceptional about it , something in there but it was choked by the other speakers. 4 weeks later I found the P12R. The sound I have now is like what you would hear in the best recordings by the great players. My Gibson ES330 '65 original and this amp. Wow.

I play through a 1964 Fender Blackface Deluxe, not a Deluxe Reverb, a Deluxe. (Yep, the good sounding one). It is completely original except for tubes and a new Jensen P12R. There is no difference in the sound of the original speaker and the new P12R. I also use a 1965 Champ with a new P8R in it. Same deal...no difference in sound from the original speaker. If you are rebuilding an old low wattage Fender amplifier this is the way to go. These people totally nailed the sound of their original speakers. Thank you Jensen.

I recently installed a P12R in my 5E3 deluxe circuited amp and WOW, it's THE SOUND I was looking for. Perfect clean and breaks up very nicely when pushed. I play slide and steel guitar blues through it. Thanks for getting it right.

I tried a P12R in a cab, which is made from an old piano and it sounds fantastic

I am pleased to say that my choice of a Jensen P10R and a P12R Alnico speaker return the 44 year old Gibson GA-30RVT to its formal glory. The Jensen Vintage speakers give a very rich and warm sound, exactly what I was looking for, Thank You!

I bought a P12R to go in an Epiphone amp, which broke down at a show. I'm going to scrap the amp most likely but I'm planning on keeping the speaker for use with one of those new Vox Nighttrains. I was very satisfied with the tone of the speaker. I also plan on putting together new cabinets with your Neodymium speakers (a 4x10 and a 1x15) to go with my Peavey Windsor.

I bought a P12R and put it into a vintage Fender Deluxe Reverb amp. Really made a huge difference in tone for the amp. My pair of C10Q's in an open back cabinet produces the best tone around the block. You can't beat them!.
